Genuine Fakes by Rosemary Myatt
A compelling tale of two men who, over many years, fooled the art world. Michael Vaughan-Taylor, a cunning conman, came across John Blake, an innocent artist in dire straits. Together, the two became internationally, and infamously, known for having pulled off the ‘greatest art fraud of the 20th century’.
Genuine Fakes provides a unique vantage point into the decade that the two men managed to exploit the art world with their dangerous combination of extraordinary talents in both art and deception. Loosely based on genuine events, and with an unprecedented insight into the experience of one half of the scandalous partnership, this novel explores a yet unseen side of this notorious story. Make sure to get your copy of Genuine Fakes before the major feature film is released next year…

Corin the Cow by Alison Brooks
Corin the Cow is a great book that both young children and their parents can enjoy together. This wonderful early childhood book has not solely been created by Alison and Sarah for entertainment purposes, but has been produced to help young children when they are first learning to read and write; enhancing their reading capabilities and helping them learn how to pronounce words phonetically, along with the use of digraphs (two letters together that make one sound). To give children the best learning experience while they are reading Alison has written various words throughout this book in green, with some lines underneath the green words – this has been done so as to give children the opportunity to have a go reading the green coloured words all by themselves as they make their way through this story.

The Life and Times of Charles Masefield MC by Graham Bebbington
£9.95
Graham Bebbington's latest book is a biography of the Cheadle-born poet and author who died at the age of 35, having been wounded at lens in July 1917. On one level the work tells of how his ideals were severely put to the test by what he and his comrades experienced in Flanders. On another level the author gives an insight as to how the Great War affected the life of communities in North Staffordshire and sets this into the context of national events. By the author of Pit Boy to Prime Minister and Silverdale - The Five Road Ends, this new book is illustrated with many rare and hitherto unpublished photographs.
"I would strongly recommend this fascinating biography of a brave soldier who gave his life in the Great War."
"His poems, so haunting, bring to life the mud, rats, stench of death and, above all, the bravery of those thousands that went over the top."
An expert Staffordshire historian, Graham Bebbington, has brought the story of a well-known Cheadle family together with wider contemporary events to create a well-rounded and highly readable book." (Amazon Review)
"This is a well-researched biography of an unsung literary hero of the Great War, cousin of the better-known poet John Masefield. it includes extensive quotations from his own poetry and letters from the front, as well as previously unpublished photographs." (The Lady Magazine Review)

Theatres of War by William Cooke
£11.99
Theatres of War deals with three significant episodes in the history of the Midlands. The visits of Buffalo Bill to Stoke created a sensation, for he was among the most charismatic figures of his age. His Wild West, one of the most spectacular shows ever seen, was truly a theatre of war, vividly recreating such events as Custer's last stand at the Little Bighorn. Secondly, the Minnie Pit explosion of 1918 was the worst disaster in the history of coal mining in North Staffordshire. The tragedy moved the whole nation and inspired Wilfred Owen to write his poem 'Miners' in which the devastation at Halmerend became a metaphor for the carnage he had witnessed on the Western Front. The final episode covers the assassination of SS General Reinhard Heydrich in 1942 which provoked a terrible act of reprisal - the destruction of the Czech village of Lidice. In response, the defiant Lidice Shall Live campaign that originated in Stoke-on-Trent became a worldwide movement to confront and confound Nazi brutality.
"The Book is packed with nostalgia for the days of music hall .... and the reader is treated to a feast of new information." (Fred Hughes)

Scrambling to Glory by William Cooke
£9.99
Scrambling to Glory tells the momentous story of the Battle of Britain that took place in the killing skies above England from July to October 1940. Part One profiles some of the extraordinary fighter pilots connected with the central region (especially the West Midlands), including not only such notable aces as George Bennions, Michael Crossley and Eric Lock, but also lesser known participants in the nation's finest hour. Part Two gives an account of 238 Squadron's role in the battle as reflected in twelve remarkable letters written at the time by Sergeant Eric Bann, of Macclesfield, one of the conflict's unsung heroes. These letters bear witness to the pilots' supreme bravery and self-sacrifice in the struggle for survival that may have changed the whole course of the Second World War.
With "vibrant descriptions of aerial combat, the book provides local social history with the reproduction of 12 letters written by Sergeant Samuel Eric Bann .... Written to his parents, they bring to life the reality of daily events while serving in the prominent 238 squadron." (Fred Hughes)
